Cindy Miller, the current president of Kernersville’s Kiwanis Club, was elected governor-elect of the Carolinas District of Kiwanis International during the district’s annual convention in Greensboro.

Miller was nominated by Cindy Stewart, the club’s vice president, who highlighted their friendship and Miller’s commitment to Kiwanis during a nomination speech on Saturday. 

Stewart noted that both she and Miller were inducted into the club in 2022 and quickly became friends through their shared passion for the organization. 

She said Miller “represents the heart of Kiwanis,” describing her as a volunteer leader who believes every child deserves “encouragement, opportunity, and community that helps them to exceed expectations.”

In addition to her work with schools and community partners, Stewart highlighted Miller’s ability to connect people with service opportunities, concluding: “She encourages collaboration and helps clubs see what is possible when members work together.”

In remarks following the nomination, Miller said the district position represents more than a title.

“It’s about preparation,” she said. “It’s about partnership. It’s about purpose.”

As governor-elect, Miller said she intends to focus on listening to club and division leadership while strengthening communication across the district. 

She also challenged other Kiwanians at the convention to consider stepping into leadership roles, expressing her desire to help members reach their potential “and feel confident they belong here.”
