The Kernersville Chamber of Commerce is asking the community to help fill candy bowls for its annual downtown trick-or-treat event on Halloween.
Through Oct. 29, the chamber is accepting donations of individually wrapped candy at its office at 136 E. Mountain St.
“We’re looking for all the candy,” said Amanda Ruark, the chamber’s finance and tourism director. “Just a reminder when you’re out and about. The kids in Kernersville will thank you.”
The free annual event will be held downtown on Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m., with local merchants and organizations handing out treats to children.
Community members can help offset the cost of those sweets by contributing an extra bag or two in advance.
