Kernersville residents will have an opportunity to show their appreciation for local veterans this weekend when the annual Veterans Parade makes its way through downtown.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, with attendees encouraged to line Main Street and bring American flags.
Participants and spectators should gather at the Kernersville Farmers Market by 2 p.m., at which time roads will close for the parade.
The procession will travel south to north along Main Street, turn onto Railroad Street and continue to Beard Street before crossing East Mountain Street returning to the Farmers Market.
Immediately following the parade, veterans are invited to a Hero’s Welcome. The post-parade celebration will include recognition of the military branches, entertainment by local students, and refreshments provided by The Summit Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Kernersville Chamber of Commerce.
