The following Kernersville-affiliated recipients were honored during Friday’s ceremony and each received a cash prize:

  • Sydney Watson, East Forsyth High School — Promise Award (for exceptional first-year teachers)
  • Fran Little (past president of the Kiwanis Club of Kernersville), Smith Farm Elementary School — Judy Mountjoy Volunteer of the Year
  • Lisa May, Kernersville Middle School — Social Worker of the Year

“During my time with Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, one thing that’s become clear to me very quickly is that we’re fortunate to have an incredibly dedicated team of employees and volunteers,” said Superintendent Don Phipps. “Their presence, their character, and their love for our students are why they continue to succeed. We hope this night is a reminder that everything they do is noticed and appreciated.”
