A Kernersville-based realtor is bringing local crafters together again this weekend for a community event designed to give unused supplies new life.
The second annual Crafty Yard Sale is set for Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Keller Williams Realty on NC Highway 66 South.
Organizer Carla Keenan said the event will feature more than 20 vendors offering a range of crafting materials, noting that the event grew out of a Facebook group she created to connect locals involved in crafts like scrapbooking, card-making, crocheting, quilting, wreath design and more.
While that social media space has expanded to several hundred members and hosts regular meetups for members to work on projects together, she told Scope News that events like this one fill a practical need for hobbyists looking for supplies amid the closure of several craft stores in the region.
That local demand was evident in the strong turnout for last year’s inaugural event.
“We had about 30 lined up before 8:30 a.m.,” Keenan added. “It was an exciting day for sure.”
Attendees on Saturday are encouraged to bring tote bags for their purchases and small bills for easier transactions.
