After years of dreaming about opening her own fitness studio, former flight attendant Angela Lewis has brought that ambition to Kernersville with the recent grand opening of Neighborhood Barre.
The studio, located next to Lowe’s Foods at 230 Market View Dr., offers barre-based workouts Lewis says are designed to improve balance, stability, and mobility.
She told Scope News that the Kernersville area appealed to her because of its growth and central location within the Piedmont Triad.
“When I spoke with Katy [Richardson], the founder of Neighborhood Barre, she resonated with me. I really connected with her,” Lewis said of her business decision. “I loved her story.”
Participants do not need prior barre experience or a fitness background to take a class, she said, noting that instructors are trained to offer modifications and more advanced options to accommodate different ability levels.
“The reception so far has been great,” Lewis said, adding that she looked forward to participating in community events and supporting charitable causes in the community.
Neighborhood Barre is currently collecting toys for children ahead of the holiday season and donations can be dropped off at the studio. Click here for more information.
