Kernersville Foundation Receives Six-Figure State Grant

The North Carolina General Assembly has approved a $425,000 grant to support the Kernersville Foundation’s mission of helping local nonprofits address basic human needs in our community.

The funding was included in the state’s 2026-28 budget through a directed grant designated by state Sen. Dana Caudill Jones and state Rep. Donny Lambeth.

“The Kernersville Foundation is a trusted community partner, and this investment will help meet critical local needs,” Jones said.

The grant will supplement funds the foundation raises independently, allowing for expanded support for nonprofits serving Kernersville. Among the organizations the foundation plans to work with in distributing the funds are the Salvation Army, Next Step Ministries, Crisis Control Ministry, Shepherd’s Center, and Kernersville Family YMCA.

“This is the first in several years that grant funds were possible in the state budget,” said Kernersville Foundation Board Chair Duane Long. “Sen. Jones and Rep. Lambeth have invested in the Kernersville community.”

The grant will also help the foundation organize a community Day of Giving next year to coordinate donations to a much wider array of local nonprofits.

“The Kernersville Foundation does an incredible job supporting the needs of the community,” Lambeth added. “I am pleased to be a part of providing these much-needed resources to meet many of our community’s needs.”

The Kernersville Foundation provides financial assistance to nonprofit organizations serving the local community, specifically 501(c)(3) entities with a physical presence within the town. Funding provided through the grant is available for use through the end of June 2029.
